The appointment of Dato’ Sri Shazalli Ramly as Group CEO of Telekom Malaysia Berhad

Kuala Lumpur, 22 March 2017 – The Board and management of Axiata Group Berhad (Axiata) take this opportunity to congratulate Dato’ Sri Shazalli Ramly on his appointment as Managing Director / Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM).

As a long serving member of Axiata’s leadership team, Shazalli helmed Celcom Axiata Berhad (Celcom) as CEO from September 2005 to September 2016 before taking on the broader Axiata regional role as Corporate EVP and Regional CEO for ASEAN in 2016. In his new position, Shazalli was responsible for four Axiata markets in ASEAN and specific Corporate Center functions.

Highly valued by the Group and the Axiata Board especially for his 11 years as CEO of Celcom, Shazalli was instrumental in steering the company to 32 consecutive quarters of growth with his focus on brand building, innovative marketing strategies, understanding customer needs and strengthening the company’s fundamentals. In its zenith, Celcom successfully captured the lion’s share of the Malaysian mobile market to outperform its competitors, winning the recognition and admiration of both local and international industry and business stalwarts.

Though we are saddened to lose such a talent from our Group, we wish Shazalli the best in his new role in TM. We are confident he will continue to contribute to the betterment of the industry and nation.
