Axiata Further Strengthens management with the Appointments of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Chief Operating Officer (COO) at its Cambodian Operations
Kuala Lumpur, 27th May 2009 - Axiata Group Berhad (formerly known as TM International Berhad) (“Axiata”), today announced two new key management positions in the Group's Cambodian operations, TMI Cambodia, with Mr. Simon J Perkins as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Mr. Nashad Emir as Chief Operating Officer, effective June 8th and September 1st respectively. The positions are part of Axiata's ongoing efforts to strengthen management at its operating companies (OpCos), with a focus on recruiting the best talents as well as grooming new talents; this announcement for Cambodia was preceded by a major reorganization at Celcom two weeks ago.
Simon J Perkins – Chief Executive Officer TMIC
With over 10 years in Asia, Simon is a well known name in Indochina region's telecommunications industry. Simon has been involved in various telecommunication companies during his career and prior to taking up our appointment, he was the CEO for Vietnamobile, a mobile network operator in Vietnam, where he successfully turned the business around. Simon spent more then 20 years with BT in the UK and its operations in the USA as well as India (Bharti), Singapore (StarHub) and the regional office in Asia Pacific. Subsequently he spent five years in Indochina, as CEO of Millicom Cellular's Vietnam operations and later as CEO of its regional operations for the whole of Indochina. He also spent three years in Australia with Silk Telekom before returning to Indochina. Given his experience in the region Simon will play a wide role for Axiata, not just as Chief Executive Officer of TMIC but also responsible for Indochina.
Simon has also served as a Director on Boards of CamGSM and Tele2 Cambodia, Paktel Pakistan and Chairman of Board of Directors Extelcom Philippines.

Nashad Emir – Chief Operating Officer TMIC
As Chief Operating Officer of TMIC, Nashad's appointment is in line with Axiata Group's strategy of developing talent to be part of our pool of future Malaysian and Country National leaders.
Nashad's expertise has been firmly rooted in leading international operations, such as GE and Sony, in consumer and industrial products, manufacturing and service industries P&L centres, in customer service and business development, and also in process improvement methodologies.
Nashad, a Malaysian, will be joining the Group from Draka Philippines Inc, an industrial manufacturing company, where he is the Managing Director. Prior to this, Nashad spent a good part of his career in SONY (9 years) and held numerous positions in General Electric (GE) where he spent more than 7 years. His last couple of positions in GE was as MD of GE Plastics Malaysia and President Director for GE Consumer and Industrial in Indonesia where he was responsible for the country P&L. Whilst in GE, Nashad was posted to Shanghai as Quality Leader for GE Consumer & Industrial, Asia Pacific. He is a certified Master Black Belt Six Sigma and also well versed in ISO Quality Standards and various other process improvement methodologies and Change Management.

The two new appointments will complement the current TMI Cambodia management team, currently led by the Chief Financial Officer, Phillip Wong.
