Axiata Group Berhad's President and GCEO Honoured with Leadership Award for Asia 2014 by TMT Finance
Kuala Lumpur 22th January 2014, Axiata Group Berhad (‘Axiata') continues to gain momentum in the industry as it received another prestigious award with the TMT Leadership Award for Asia 2014 by TMT Finance conferred to its President and Group CEO, Dato' Sri Jamaludin Ibrahim.
The award recognises outstanding telecom leaders with the foresight for investing in innovative business models for long-term growth of their telecom businesses and for contributing to the economic development within their markets.
Under the leadership of Jamaludin Ibrahim, Axiata has expanded its subscriber base by 442% and revenue by 77% from 2007 to 2012. As at end December 2013, its market capitalisation was more than RM 58.9 billion which is among the 5 largest in Malaysia, and amongst the largest telecommunications group in Asia.
In its commitment of Advancing Asia, Axiata touches the lives of close to 230 million subscribers and employs 20,000 people within its Group. Over the last five years, Axiata has contributed to the countries in which it operates through significant capital investments, generation of new jobs and a commitment to deliver innovative and the highest quality of services to its customers.
