TM International Berhad Welcomes Entry of NTT DOCOMO, INC. as Shareholder in TMIB
TM International Berhad (TMI) and its wholly owned subsidiary, TM International (L) Limited today officially welcomed NTT DOCOMO, INC. (DOCOMO) of Japan as a shareholder in TM International (Bangladesh) Ltd (TMIB), TMI's mobile operations in Bangladesh. DOCOMO completed its purchase of a 30% stake in TMIB by acquiring all the issued and paid-up shares of TMIB previously held by A.K. Khan & Co.Ltd. and its four group companies.
TMI's President & Group Chief Executive Officer, Dato' Jamaludin Ibrahim said, "Since our demerger TMI has been focused on bringing positive change to the group. As such we are very excited at the prospect of working with DOCOMO whose wealth of expertise will bring a new perspective as well as an invaluable dimension to TMIB on driving superior performance and market growth. TMIB, trading under the brand name Aktel, operates a cellular GSM service in Bangladesh. With over 7 million subscribers Aktel has a 24% share of the market.
